News From The Bridge 6/14/16
Hey guys!! Pastor Bobby here wanting to give you an update on recent developments with The Bridge.
Time is flying by and as of today we are looking to be reunited with you all in about 8 weeks. Robin is teaching 3 days a week as well as diligently working on her dissertation the rest of the time. It has to be turned in July 8th. She is hoping to defend it around Aug 8th. The plan is to be packed up and ready to hit the road the next day!
While she does this, I am working with my Network Coach to get everything we have to do to launch The Bridge on a timeline and checking off each step of the process as I get them done. The support I am and have received from the other Network Pastors around the nation has been amazing.
Things are so different than when I last planted 20 years ago with very little support, as church planting was not that common then. Being a part of the Life.Church movement, the amazing momentum, and building collegiate friendships with some of the most mission minded people I have ever met,....the only words that comes to mind are that I truly feel honored to be in the circle.
As I said in the last newsletter, I am also writing a book on "Divorce and Remarriage" that I hope to have published before we return to Pensacola. Please pray for this work as I believe it will help a whole lot of people who are trapped in condemnation and loneliness.
Here are the 3 BIG THINGS I want to communicate this week:
1. First, I want to introduce our new Trustees.
What is a Trustee? Trustees are the "stewards" over the church finances and represent the church in all church business dealings.
I Corinthians 4:2 says that one thing is required of 'stewards': they must be trustworthy. After much prayer and consideration, I asked 2 of the most trustworthy men I know to pray about being our initial Trustees for The Bridge. Our Bylaws will require 3 to 5 by the time we launch, but for the purpose of filing our 501-3c, we just needed 2 initially. The 2 men I asked, who both ironically said, "Yes, I am ALL IN.", are Scott Kramer and Tom Rongstad. Here are their bios:
Scott Kramer and his wife Donna were married in 1990 & moved to Pensacola in 1999. They have not only taught many FPU classes but have completely lived that process out for a debt free journey. Scott has been trained at Dave Ramsey's TN offices for the Master Coaching Program and currently offers financial counseling as well as coaching through his business, Ascension Financial Counseling.
Tom Rongstad has 27 years of experience as a multi-line insurance adjuster regarding Commercial, Industrial, and Manufacturing Property, Business Interruption, Homeowners, Inland Marine, General Liability, and Product Liability applications. This mandates interpretations of contracts, leases, rental agreements, local codes and regulations, and governing Statutes. This experience provides knowledge to recognize risks and to protect against them as acting Risk Manager.
Both of these men will be a huge asset to The Bridge in financial oversight and budgeting, as well as insurance and property matters.
2. Second, we were going to wait to file our 501-3c until Robin and I moved back, but since we have our Trustees in place, we are initiating the process this week
This means that everything will be in place by mid-August, which is when we will start our Launch Team weekly meetings.
3. Finally, at this point we have almost 50 committed to our Launch Team. I am believing for 100 by the end of the year in order to launch in late January 2017 with 2 services fully staffed.
