Does anyone miss Calvin and Hobbes as much as I do?? Seriously, imo, the BEST comic strip of all time.....
I am facing message prep this morning, as well as other admin stuff, but wanted to fire of some quick hits, thoughts rumbling through my head recently:
- I can't find a truly GOOD cup of gumbo in this city. Its all creole gumbo, tomato based and too thick. Does anyone know of anyplace that serves CAJUN gumbo??? Roux based, nice big shrimp, with a scoop of rice in the middle.....my, my!!!
- With the Saints still winning and a trip last weekend to cajun country, I am craving boiled crawfish. We need to do a church event with some boiled crawfish...can anyone say, "AHEEEEEEE!!"
- Soon time for some new Boudreux jokes???
- The older I get, the more I realize how you were parented makes so much difference in the quality of your relationships. I had great, loving parents, but we were a loud French family that had no sense of communication skills. Parents, WORK WITH YOUR KIDS ON LEARNING HOW TO COMMUNICATE!!!
- I am proud of each of our kids. All of them look people in the eyes when they talk, smile, take an interest in what the other person is saying. Kudos big time to my wife!! (though I did help! :)..)
- As most everyone know by now, Jennifer, my assistant and our Office Manager (and dear friend), is PREGNANT!!! We are so happy for her and her new husband, Josh. The Bible talks about how a dream fulfilled is a tree of life (Prov 11) and this is indeed the case here....she is glowing!!! :)
- Robert and Vicky Pooley, Deb and I, ate and watched the first half of the Saints game at Will Call (downtown on Palafox) Monday night. What a GREAT place to watch a game! Like the old Damon's, but better. $8 for half a rack of baby backs, 2 sides.....dont miss the cajun grits...crawfish and andoule sausage mixed in......need I say YUM?!!?
Enough for today....back to work.
PB
Bring it!!! :-)

Seems that the Burleigh girls are gonna have to fight this one out cause the best place for gumbo (by far) is MY house. Bring it Mom and Deb, I'm ready for a throwdown.

Hush now, you are making me hungry! Was that Debbie, your wife, that just commented about best place for gumbo is her kitchen? My friend's husband, Lee Page, makes it all the time and I have yet to be invited over to have some. Only once has Dave made it and there was good ole okra and chicken in it! Looking forward to cooler weather so I can try to make some. Anyone have the recipe?

There's a place up in Milton (I think) that served an amazing cup of gumbo. I once had gumbo at the Big Easy on Palafox (they're not there anymore and and I don't know if the new Big Easy is the same place or not)
