Recently, I had a good conversation with a friend who had fallen into sin. As we talked, the big question became....."WHAT IS GOING TO DEFINE YOUR LIFE?....YOUR TEMPORARY FALL?.....OR....THE FACT YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD, SAVED BY GRACE, WITH A DIVINE PURPOSE TO BE FULFILLED???" WHAT WILL YOU ALLOW TO DEFINE YOU??
The Bible in James says that we all fall. At some given point (s), its just the fact: You, I , live in bodies that are so, so prone to failure. Our souls have knots and bends we dont realize. Our thought-life is a mess at times. We are BEING perfected, but on this side of eternity, it will never be 'BEEN perfected'.
By the grace of God, when we fall, even if we have to lay there for a bit, we RISE!
Take the 2 minutes to watch this fact wonderfully illustrated. I promise: You wont forget it!!
I am heading out for a few days to do a personal fasting retreat. I appreciate your prayer if I should come to mind. I will be lifting up many of your needs as well.
Grace,
PB
I agree PB, that we as humans, fail, and will never be "perfect" in and of ourselves this side of our full redemption. But we should strive for personal holiness. Working out our salvation in fear and trembling. (something that has lost its meaning with the doctrines of free grace). We should prod one another on to perfection. Looking unto Jesus our example. I fear we often identify ourselves with our old sin nature and make excuses for our sin, instead of deploring sin, and identifying with Jesus and His righteousness. When our hunger for God surpasses our hunger for this world and the temporal satisfaction it offers, I believe we will experience personal revival in our lives that will reach out and affect others.
