"Into each life some rain must fall."
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
One big thing I have learned in life is that it is seasonal. There are seasons of peace, seasons of turmoil. There are seasons of prosperity, seasons of leanness. As the tide ebbs and flows, so do the seasons of life.
Likewise, there are stretches of sunshine when all seems bright for days on end. Then the rain comes.
And sometimes it rains real heavy.
This week has been a heavy rain time. The week before was full of sunshine with the joy of Michael and Courtney getting married. This week? (and the reason you havent heard much from me...)
- Friday night Rehearsal dinner was great! Deb and I got home and to bed around 1 am....then the rain started....
- Got a call at 6am Saturday morning. It was Jennifer Head. The call soon after that was Jacob. A statement will be made Sunday if you are interested. I will also post my thoughts next week.
- The wedding that afternoon was spectacular! The reception, wonderful. Then, the rain started again.....my dad (found out Monday) had a small heart attack after the bride and groom drove away, and landed in ER 6am Monday. He is still there as I write. He has a blockage as well as his mitral heart valve almost completely closed and will require open heart surgery within the next 2 weeks. 84 and open heart surgery.......please lift him up....
- Went for an MRI Monday afternoon for the upper ab pain I have had for almost 4 years now. A whole HOUR in the 'tube'! Thankfully, it is negative, meaning there is probably a hernia of some kind up there??
I could wax on, but it is 8pm and I need to prayerwalk away some stress. I May even run.....:)
Thanks for all the prayer guys. God is good and there is indeed 'mercy in the mess' of life...
PB
PS Invite your friends and family to what has become one of the best services we have each year, our Christmas Night of Worship. It will be more acoustic style (not as loud as usual) so your (perhaps) more traditional folks should be right at home.......mostly! ;)
Please know that the Moore sisters from B'ham are standing with & praying for you all! Our Lord is faithful to sustain us through trials and questions against our faith. Congratulations on the wedding & we both wish we could have been there.

Thanks for the prayer guys....I will post soon as I get some time to process.
JR, grace to you my brother. Your questions are all legitimate and most of the people in the Bible (Psalms) felt likewise in seasons of 'fire and trial'. As to the Christmas season, the rain isnt selective about when it comes. You just deal with it when it comes and know that though THIS Christmas may be one that pretty much just goes by and is marked by trial, there WILL be Christmas's in the future marked by joy once again.
Grace to you, again...and your family...pb

your comments rings true.. We currently also are going through serious health crisis in our family and I need to know that God is in control. Although I don't doubt that fact, sometimes you just feel like God needs to show me in some tangible way that he's aware and understands. How does one rejoice in the spirit of the Christmas season while going through such a crisis. Im asking for prayers for my sister in law. Thanks
