Without question, with all that is happening in the world recently, interest in the book of Revelation has become white hot. It's funny how that always happens when times get shakey!
God uses that though. He did in my own life. Back when I was a college freshman, someone gave me a book called "There's A New World Coming". It was all about Revelation. God somehow met me through that book and I gave my life to Christ and havent looked back since.
We are finishing the Book of Revelation in our Victory Bible Reading plan that we go through at Harvest. (to get the plan, go to www.harvestpensacola.com , go to media at top tab) It's funny: The more I read this book, the less I feel I understand! I have taught the book in Bible College, read it hundreds of times, but I still find myself saying and praying, "What in the.....????......Lord,... I have NO IDEA what this is here. I am open to Your light on the matter though."
I used to feel I had to have it all figured out. No more. I am convinced much of Revelation will be understood only in the 'rear-view mirror', AFTER we go through it. John the Apostle is seeing things in the Spirit, ie, demons, etc...crazy looking 'living creatures'....you name it. Seriously, some of the stuff is so bizzare that if you didnt know he was "in the Spirit", the only thing close to producing some of that imagery is an LSD trip.
....Wild, crazy stuff!!
I am rambling, but the point I wanted to make today is this: You dont have to understand everything. You just have to "abide in Christ", enjoy your fellowship with the Holy Spirit, seek to live up to what you DO know. God wont judge us on how well we understood Revelation. But He will judge us on how well we lived according to the light we had.
So, ......relax. Enjoy reading God's Word. Talk to him about what you read. Ask for illumination on what He wants you to understand for the season you are in. Your Father is good. No good thing will He withold from those who fear Him. He wants to give you understanding, in His time.
Peace,
PB
