As I sit here at my desk on Wednesday evening, I felt a wave of gratitude fill my heart as I took some time to catch up with old friends (via my kids Facebook accounts!...:)...) and new.
It's Thanksgiving tommorow. Here are a few things I thank the Father for in this season....
- My beautiful wife, Debbie, of almost 24 years. I have been a 'clod' for much of that time, but she has stuck with me! :)
- Each of my kids, Michael, Brittany, Victoria. Each is in love with Jesus. Each is so unique. A dad could not ask for more.
- All of my friends, most of who serve with me at Harvest. People wonder why there isn't a feel of 'church politics' at Harvest. Very simple: Friends dont play those games! I love doing life and ministry with the people around me. Can it get better than that???
- My dad. He came through a year that I cant even begin to imagine in losing my mom. His resiliency is inspiring.
- The fact that I was able to invest time with my mom for the last few years before she passed. I have no regrets, not one. The Lord was gracious and kind all through the process of her parting. She is now out of the 'Shadowlands' and in the place of the 'real' Real.
- My church. I LOVE this church and would attend it even if I wasnt the Pastor. I believe in it with every fiber of my being. I love being a church that is serious about helping people find their way back to God.
- My health. I kind of lost it for about a year, but am feeling strong again. When you dont feel right everything is off.
- GRACE. Honestly, I dont deserve ANY of the above. Jesus changed my life, set it in a new direction, and has blessed me. Without question, had grace not drawn me, I would have been divored at least once, an alcoholic hooked on cigs, .....basically LOST. Grace found me and I want to glorify God with every day I have.
HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING!!!
