Life and running are alot alike.
I used to run alot more than I do now, but I still get out there every so often.....if not just to ease the guilt.
One thing I have learned is that many times on a run you are just not into it, you feel out of synch. It just doesn't seem that all the gears are meshing.
But every so often, it all comes together. You get in a rhythm. Your body and feet feel light. You are energized. It is at those moments you are glad you are a runner and didn't quit.
You are hitting your stride.
Sunday was a "hitting your stride" day for us at Harvest. The house was full. The air was alive. We had 7 people get baptized, and each one was so real, so freshly touched by God, that when they spoke, the whole church spontaneously would break into cheering. It was awesome. As a matter of fact, at the end of the time, Jody said "the water is still stirring if you want to get baptized today!" and when the service ended, you could hear the screen go up again as someone else wanted to be baptized as well!
We were "hitting our stride" as a church.
Let me encourage you: Much of life is like running, dull, largely "duty".....just "showing up". But like Sunday, if you just keep at it and stay consistent, the "hitting your stride" days WILL come. And when they come, you'll be glad you persevered and didn't quit.
Enjoy your Thursday!

Pastor Bobby, I like that blog! By that post I am reminded that I should be more bold and purposeful in my walk with God. In the military we were told to "walk with a purpose". As Christians we need to be mindful of our steps and insure they have purpose. Many people just go through the motions day to day. The walk of life becomes mundane with no snap or vigor. Being reminded of this I will try to refocus on the steps I take in life and make each step count. We all have received gifts when we committed our life to Christ and accepted him as our lord and savior. Hitting the stride as a Christian is indeed important and can win souls. God has worked through me to do that. I am humbled and VERY happy that God choose me. Thanks for the reminder. God Bless. Thomas.
