Since I am in the baseball groove, I'll play on the analogy a bit more......by the way, some of you guys really know your pitches! :-)
Many lifetimes ago I played with a city league softball team. We played the 'real' players, ie, what we called the 'lifers'......the guys who were really serious about softball.
We were young and athletic.
They were old and knew softball.
We were all 'church leaguers' who because we had such a good team in the church league, thought, "Hey, why not go to the city league and whoop up there??"
We paid dearly for our cockiness. We lost, no, got 'dismantled', the first 15 games. And that was out of a 16 game season.
I learned alot about the 'Big Mo' that year.
It seemed we could never get a break those first 15 games. We would get the bases loaded, then...pop up. Side retired. It was really amazing to see otherwise good players making mistakes and errors we had never made in church league when WE were the ones dismantling other teams.
The 'Big Mo' was against us.
When the 'Big Mo' is against you, it seems nothing goes right. When the "Big Mo' is with you. It seems you can do nothing wrong.
What is the 'Big Mo'?
Momentum.
Momentum is like a freight-train. The energy builds on itself, whether positive or negative. This is why it is so important to get some 'wins' under your belt, to get some 'rallies' going. You have to get the ball going in the other direction.
You have to get momentum working for you in life.
Most people don't understand this principle. They wait for 'life to come to them'. They wait. ... They wait..... They wait some more.
They wait a lifetime. All the while, fuzzy green stuff begins to grow on them and they wrinkle, talking about 'What they one day are going to do...' (or stop doing). They have, often-times, YEARS of negative, or 'non-momentum' in their lives.
They are passive, ..largely motionless. Like a freight train just waiting. They can wait their life away, not moving. Waiting for momentum to just 'happen'.
Momentum never 'just happens''. No movement, no momentum.
That's how laziness gets into our bloodstream and side-lines us. We are always waiting for some kind of 'inspiration' to do anything.
God said to Elijah, "Rise up and go....".
We have to break out of non-momentum, or negative momentum and start 'sowing' to please the Spirit. Clean the house. The garage. Wash the dishes. Mow the lawn. Pay the bills. Whatever. Get up and start doing the small, simple things. You will gain momentum to tackle the bigger.
The most normal of things can get us started in the right vein.
I am worded out and hitting the hay. Do something today to create positive momentum in your life. Sow to please the Spirit.
You'll see the 'Big Mo' begin to work in your favor.
PB
I'm glad you cleared that up... for some reason, in the past when I heard you talk about the big Mo, I thought you meant the creepy neighbor down the street. Boy, is my face red!
