30 years......30.
....it's really hard to believe how fast that time passed.
This past weekend I drove to Lafayette for our 30 year class reunion, Acadiana High School, class of 81. It was great to see so many old friends I have not seen in many moons. Quick trip, as I got there around 5pm and was back in Pcola by 11 Sunday night.
Here are a few observations:
- The girls definitely aged better than the guys....
- My closest friends in HS were girls. Strange, but true....
- Hair styles actually look better today than back then....case in point above. :)
- Inspired by my best friend from the day, Kay, who is the Principle of Cathedral Carmel High School now. For the last 7 years she wakes up at 3:15, works out from 3:30 to 5am, washes clothes, gets kids ready for school, at school by 7am. Amazing.
- City Club at RiverRanch is nice, but the nicest part was breakfast with friends Sunday. I dont like competing with the music to talk, but that's just me.
- On that, would much prefer just jeans and casual clothes rather than dressing up. Just me again :)
- Got to do a little ministry heart to heart with an old friend Sat evening. Planting seeds.....
- Old friends are just that: Old friends who you dont have to prove anything with. Nice....
The weekend was sealed off with a bowl of Crawfish Bisque from Don's Seafood Hut and an unbelievable Saints win. On the way back I stopped in Mandeville and visited with one of my best friends from 4th Grade, David Hebert and his family. Very, very nice just being with them.
