The Bible is clear: "Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. Love is not easily offended......" (1 Corinthians 13)
Yet, I am amazed at how Christians,..... even it seems more than NON-Christians....are indeed just the opposite: EASILY OFFENDED.
I like the way the NLT version words it even better, "Love is not easily irritated..." In other words: If you are sincerely seeking to walk in Christ and His love, you won't be a 'TOUCHY' person!
Do people feel like they have to 'walk on eggshells' around you? Do they have to always feel like they have to watch what they are saying, lest you be offended?
Hmmmmm........take the weekend and think about it.
Then come Sunday to hear Part 3 of our "Difficult People" sermon series where we will talk about just this, "EASILY OFFENDED". I think it will be a huge growth point for many people.
And, hey, invite anyone you know that needs to be in a good church. It's a PARTNERSHIP: You invite them; we deliver the Gospel in a way they can relate to!
See you guys Sunday!!
To better walking in God's love,
PB
I was just wondering what version of the Bible you used for " Love is not easily offended", because i have been looking for that translation and i am not able to find it!

I think Christians have a tendancy to expect "heaven on earth" out of everyone but themselves. We should remember, dead people don't get offended. Are we truly dead?

i was just thinking about this over the past week. it's amazing how you want friends who surround you and comfort you and love you yet so many people are judgemental and get offended instead of loving you and realizing we are all sinners.

I think it starts with loving yourself. If you truely love yourself then I think it's more difficult to be offended by others. I believe that the love the bible talks about also applies to loving ourselves.
