Nitpicking
It never ceases to amaze me how 'nit-pickity' Christians can be.
Having had the wonderful privelege of starting Harvest from scratch, with nothing but a vision and a call, we have never felt pressured to please the 'nit-pickers' who invariably come around every so often. Sure, we get complaints. Often-times they are real ones from people who really care and are committed to the church, regardless. We take these as "opportunities to improve".
But "nitpickers"..., they will drive you crazy if you listen to them. They live their lives carrying around this 'magifying glass', examining everything with the view to correct the world. They mean well but they really need to get delivered.
The great thing is by and large, the 'nit-pickers' don't last very long around our church. We're too happy for them. :-)
A close friend who is a fellow pastor sent me this tonight. I know it isn't Friday, but sometimes it's the Tuesdays that need the laugh relief. I couldn't keep this one back..... as a pastor who could FEEL the pain of having heard calls like that, then what they did with it, I was rolling.....but make sure you listen in sequence.....The sad thing is that there are thousands and thousands of well-meaning people out there, "nit-pickers" no doubt, who just really have too much time on their hands.
Here is the email he forwarded me. This is a real, 'bonafide' caller....hard to believe as it may seem... To sanity, PB
Listen to the phone complaint here...
Now, here's the "dance re-mix" of the complaint (Mistake #2: having someone on your staff with too much time on their hands)
Apparently one of the 1400 things the Lord didn't tell him was to not leave his recorded voice messages on a church message center.I'm sure the man himself would have to find that pretty funny. Jody <

People REALLY should think about what they're saying...especially when leaving a recorded message!!!! (I can't help but wonder what messages God gave the caller to write about in his book...)
